WHAT IS A Q SWITCH, ND YAG LASER?
The term “Q-switch” refers to the type of pulse created by the laser. Q Switch ND YAG lasers create laser beam pulses that last mere billionths of a second. Because the energy from the laser is emitted over such a brief period of time, the energy is concentrated into very powerful pulses.
HOW DOES THE Q SWITCH LASER WORK?
Dark spots and pigmented birthmarks are quickly removed with our M22 Q Switch. The laser energy shatters the pigment molecules into tiny particles so the body’s clean-up system can remove them. WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR Q SWITCH LASER TREATMENT?
As long as you don’t have any active skin conditions, pretty much everyone is a good candidate for a Q Switch Laser session at River Oaks. After all, living in sunny Houston, most of us have plenty of sunspots, areas of hyperpigmentation, and other issues caused by sun damage. The homogenous beam profile delivered by the Q Switch nd: YAG is awesome for treating pigmented lesions and skin tone problems.

Q SWITCH DARK SPOT TREATMENT

HOW MANY Q SWITCH LASER SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments will depend, in part, on the degree of sun damage and pigmentation problems. For most of our River Oaks patients, we recommend 4-6 Q Switch sessions, one per month. Ongoing maintenance from there keeps up with any new spots that develop.
WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM THESE Q SWITCH TREATMENTS?
The removal of age spots, broken capillaries, and other pigmentation issues are permanent changes. That doesn’t mean future age spots and other issues won’t develop. They occur due to prior sun damage. The improvements made through fractional resurfacing are also permanent, but your skin will continue to age. That’s why maintenance treatments are a good idea moving forward
IS THERE ANY RECOVERY NECESSARY AFTER A Q SWITCH LASER TREATMENT?
No. These are noninvasive treatments. As mentioned above, you may have some redness on the treatment areas, but that’s about it, and that will pass in a day or so.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF A Q SWITCH LASER TREATMENT?
After your treatment at River Oaks, you may notice some redness and swelling in the treatment areas. But in these treatments, the melanin in the sunspots and areas of pigmentation is what is targeted. The surface skin is not damaged. There isn’t any burning. These are safe, effective, noninvasive treatments.
